#OriflameBloggersMeetup – Lahore,Pakistan

When You receive a beautiful invitation and You know what is it like and how it is going to feel to be in a place just like heaven for a day?

A day that was no less than perfect for the Bloggers, it was ‘Oriflame’s Bloggers Meetup’ on Friday 11th 2016, at Flatties Hotel, the oldest colonial period hotel in the historic city of Lahore-Pakistan.

The event’s highlight was the awareness of Oriflame’s  products, cosmetics like THE ONE and GIORDANI gold range and Perfumes and also focused on how unique it is from its existing counterparts.

Starting off @ 4:30pm bloggers gathered at the amazing location to kick-start the eventful day. I was greeted with love by Oriflame’s official representatives Sufyan H. Siddiqi, Fahad Ali and the beautiful lady like her name Gul Afshan.

Boosting the event with the selfie sessions we headed up to our seats and got the brand introduction that:

Book Review – Are You in the Mood?

I just developed a hobby for reviewing books and this is my first review filled with disappointments.
At first, other than this book is set in NYC, it has terrible plots and horrendous characters.

How can a mother to a newly born be so disgusting who luckily also has a loving husband who is ready to understand and comfort her on every stupid steps she takes.

This book is set around Camille who is in my sense and opinion a failure in every aspect of life. All her life her lived with a fake name just to seek attention and she’s such a selfish self-centered woman who actually thinks about throwing her baby out of the window just because he was caring to be fed!!! WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU WOMAN!!!

Camille is holding grudges on her dead father who was also a cheat to both, she and her mother… A man who was stuck in his fantasies and made his daughter drawn in them too…

I just have a thought here “How can you choose a profession or anything which already had torn your family apart…”

Honestly, I thought to give up this read many times but still I am not a quitter and Alas! I made it through this terrible book. Personally, I felt this book is the writer’s (Stephenie Lehman) unfulfilled lust filled with filth that she was never able to make it on big screen or hearts.

Book Review – The Girl On The Train

This book is a brilliant thriller and the best part about this book is there’s “a new secret on every page”.
Having three Female narrators Rachel, Megan and Anna, this book revolves around Rachel who’s is devastated, divorced and betrayed by her husband Tom.

Ever imagined that what’s happening behind the wall of your room? Have you ever thought about who else is there inside the door just next to yours? Who’s watching you from a window down the street?

Sometimes I think that I wish to know what’s happening in others life and there I found Paula Hawkins’s The Girl On The Train.

Rachel is a filthy drunk woman who goes out of her mind into others life by imagining and building the characters she was or wished to be once. Especially the one she built, the lives of ‘JASON & JESS’ in her imagination who lived at a house outside the train window from where she sees it every day when the train stops at a red signal. But then on Saturday morning, things were not as she saw them from the train and Rachel sees something that completely shatters the image of ‘JASON & JESS’ which existed in her mind.

Now Rachel is solving the mystery and she is pulled into their lives. She needs to remember what’s hidden in the “Black Hole” of her memory. She can not give up until she finds out the ‘only truth’.

Paula Hawkins has a wonderful writing skill and she has written her (debut) novel so beautifully that no wonder why I was so lost in those plots she set that it made me think on every page ‘who to trust now’. The more I tried to predict the more Paula proved me wrong and each time I enjoyed it a lot. She knows how to keep her reader gripped to the book from page one to the end.

Here are my favorite quotes from the book:

2. “Life is not a paragraph, and death is no parenthesis.”

4. “It’s impossible to resist the kindness of strangers.”
5.  “And I’ve just got to let myself feel the pain, because if I don’t if I keep numbing it, it’ll never really go away.”

7. “I have never understood how people can blithely disregard the damage they do by following their hearts.”
8. “The holes in your life are permanent. You have to grow around them, like tree roots around concrete; you mould yourself through the gaps.”

I am definitely buying Hawkins for my shelf.

This book is fascinatingly thrilling with many untold secrets. I hope the movie adaptation does justice with Paula.

Book Review – When I’m Gone, A Novel

This was my first read by Emily Bleeker and let me say that I am truly touched by her words, characters and plot off-course. Enjoyed it! Took it close to my heart!

The bonding are so strong that you can not even miss any part of it without feeling it. I really miss what happened to Jessie ? Did she survive or was she buried too and left letters for her father? But the last pages really brought tears to my eyes and couldn’t stop myself from shedding a few.

I really enjoyed the part where Natalie reminded Luke about “Our Little Secret” …. So much feel. So touched when Luke realized he could have said that “He couldn’t love anyone the same way he loved her (his wife) instead of He could never love again.”

Annie’s and Luke’s friendship was one of its kind….

a few quotes that I have Highlighted for myself:

“Are you afraid of death, or are you afraid of leaving your family?”
……the above sentence made me shiver.
“You can’t assume everything’s okay inside the house just because the paint isn’t peeling and the yard is neatly mowed.”
……..beautifully described.
“Appearing okay is a lot easier than actually being okay.”
……. OKAY!
“It’s the end that marks a beginning, not the first day.”
……..really understood that never loose hope at the end.

Emily has got the power in her words. Looking forward to put my hands on her Novel Wreckage.

CHINESE MACARONI/PASTA WITH MINCE CHICKEN AND CREAMY CAESAR

We all love Chinese food. Don't we? When it comes to Noodles, Macaroni or Pasta I always to make it taste a bit Chinese. Pasta is an Italian pick and it doesn't matter if you are confident enough to bring it out in a different taste.

This is my first Food Recipe Blog and below are the details on How to make

CHINESE MACARONI/PASTA WITH MINCE CHICKEN AND CREAMY CAESAR.

INGREDIENTS:

2 packets Macaroni/Pasta (according to your family size)

1/2 kg Minced Chicken5-6 Chopped Green Onions

4 Small Cubic Chopped Capsicum

1 Small Cabbage

4 Cubic Chopped Carrots

5-6 Cubic Chopped regular Onions

4 thin chopped Garlic cloves

2 Cubic Chopped Tomatoes

Oil

Salt

Soya Sauce

Ajinomoto (Chinese salt)

4 Tsp Chinese Chili Sauce

1 Tsp Red Chili powder (for flavor)

Black pepper powder

1/2-Cup Ketchup

Creamy Caesar Dressing by American Gardens or any

PREP

Minced Chicken - Add 3 Tsp Soya Sauce and 4 Tsp Black pepper powder mix them well cover the minced and let it rest.

Vegetables - Mix Capsicum, Carrot and Cabbage and Add 1 Tsp Black Pepper Powder, Half Table Spoon Ajinomoto, 4 Tsp Soya Sauce. Mix them well and let them rest till we boil our macaroni and make rest of the ingredients.

Macaroni - Put water into a deep cooking dish and add 4-5 Tsp oil and 1 Tsp Salt into the water and set it to boil on maximum heat and cover the dish. When the water starts to boil add macaroni/pasta to it and mix it with a flat edge spoon so you won't break them. Mix well and set them to boil for 10 minutes. Now check if they are nor too soft neither too hard. Pour them into a strainer placed inside a sink and cold tap water running through them. Wash them well off with cold water. Apply oil with a brush so that they don't stick together and set them aside.

HOW TO COOK (in the same empty dish in which we boiled macaroni/pasta)

MINCED CHICKEN FIRST

Add 5-6 Tsp Oil let it get hot now add mince to the oil and let it fry. After frying put the mince in a bowl/plate and set it aside.

VEGETABLES

Add 4 Tsp Oil wait till it gets hot now add Capsicums, Carrots, and Cabbage and Stir-fry all the veggies till you see them getting soft. Now put them in a bowl a place aside.

MACARONI

Add 4-5 Tsp Oil and wait till it gets hot now add Onions (regular) and stir fry onions till they turn soft now add garlic and tomatoes and stir fry for 30-40 seconds - now add 1 Tsp Red chili powder, 4 Tsp Chinese chili sauce, and ½-cup tomato ketchup and stir-fry well till you see 2 boil bubbles on the paste. Now low the fire and add Mince and then vegetables to the paste, mix well; Make sure you are still using the flat edge-cooking spoon. Now slowly add Macaroni to the dish, level by level mixing the paste well as you see the texture getting wrapped around macaroni/pasta. Mix well now add chopped green onion on top and give a final mix to the dish.

Serve in plates/bowls and let the individuals add Creamy Caesar Dressing to their plates.

Independence Day Celebrations at Dolmen Malls #HamariPehchan

Dolmen Mall, Pakistan’s first international standard mall, is famous for being at the forefront of every major national celebration. With every event, they have continued to raise the bar when it comes to family entertainment and shopping in Karachi.

 
As our Independence Day approaches, we see the city changing itself to represent the colours of Pakistan, and Dolmen did not stay behind in giving its visitors a flavour of patriotism. This year, their theme, ‘Dolmen loves Pakistan’, was weaved around the concept of #HamariPehchan aimed at giving people a chance to celebrate Pakistan’s identity. Spanning across all three malls, namely Dolmen Mall Clifton, Dolman Mall Tariq Road and Dolmen Mall Hyderi, the event kicked off on 12th of August 2016.

“Living in a time where there is so much uncertainty and negativity surrounding our identity as a nation, we wanted to celebrate the achievements and entertainment aspects of Pakistan which we are known for. These things are relatable to the older as well as the younger generation of this country and they need to be celebrated. This is what makes us proud as Pakistanis,” said Anum Nadeem, Marketing Head of the Dolmen Group at the event.

A weekend worth of activities were executed in all its patriotic glamour and glory. For this, the mall was draped in shades of greens and whites. The walkways saw magnificent replicas of the country’s monuments. From live murals of national heroes to specially dressed guards standing and saluting the customers, the entire mall gave off 14 th August vibes. The main atrium was designed to take the mall-goers on a photographic journey through Pakistan and its rich culture. Adding to the desi feel, a dhaaba was set up by Chai Wala offering fresh parathas and chai for all those craving for a cup of tea, Pakistan’s undisputed favourite drink. Folk music and a special Azadi Bazaar selling flags, badges, and other patriotic merchandise set the right mood to the three-day event.

 
To mark the eve of Independence Day, a grandiose performance by Sounds of Kolachi dazzled the audience. The soulful music melted into the beautiful notes of our National Anthem at precisely 12 AM, amidst a shower of confetti while the guards raised the flag and saluted. The moment was breathtakingly beautiful.

 
 
On the same night, visitors at Dolmen Mall Tariq Road were enthralled to find Noori performing live and did not shy away from fully enjoying patriotic beats.

On the digital front, an instagram competition was hosted, allowing amateur photographers to showcase their talent. Top three photographs were selected and awarded with prizes. More prizes awaited all those who visited Dolmen wearing green. Shoppers and visitors were, thus, pleasantly surprised at various occasions.
 

As another successful event comes to an end, Dolmen stands tall and proud; the management determined to keep providing more quality events and celebrations to its visitors. Let’s wait to see what they have in store for the next event!
